Does your helmet not have speaker wells/inserts, or if they do can you not increase them a bit? Not sure of what helmets you have, but most helmets these days are pretty universal for all the bluetooth speaker systems.

The speaker wells are to shallow. Won’t fit in my shoei. It’s an older shoei. Cardo went from 30mm speakers to 40mm in 2019. They won’t work for me
I had this problem with my Arai Signet-X as well. Bought the JBL speakers with the Cardo system and couldn't fit my ears in the helmet anymore. Bought an previous-year speaker set on eBay that was 30mm (along with an additional cradle) and that worked much better. Fortunately, I can use the 40mm JBL speakers in my AGV AX-9 with no issues.

I'd be reluctant to drill out the styrofoam on the ears because there's not much room from the speakers to the shell. There's also the minor issue that this would obviously void any warranty were I have to send the helmet in for any other issues.

Thanks for the ideas. I thought about going back to the 30mm speakers but the cardo tech line told me not to. They said it was a major downgrade. But hey, 30mm speakers has got to be better than none. I think I will go that route.

oooh. Ready for the season. Might just need to order up the speaker kit for it.

How long have you had it? Is that the EXO ADX-1 or the EXO AT950? I just ordered an AT950 and it is too small. I wear a Medium in every other brand. I ordered a Medium and a pair of cheek pads for a size Large (about 5mm thinner each). It is still too small. The other negative is the face shield seems to start fogging after about 6 months and does not come Pinlock ready. The ADX-1 comes with the Pinlock face shield. I sent it back and will reconsider what to buy - maybe a Nolan 100.5 or HJC RPHA 90. Shame because I really liked the Scorpion. If I could get the right size (I guess Large with cheek pads for an X-Large) with a Pinlock shield, I think it would be a winner.

Cheers,
Glenn

Modular helmets. Are they really as safe as a full-face helmet. Are modular helmets safe in a crash? - Motorbike Writer
I've seen those sharp ratings and from the picture on the Nolan it is pretty obvious what happened. Wasn't a distortion, it was the road hitting the release lever that sticks out proud of the helmet. I've got a Nolan that I use for snowmobiling and the release lever isn't protected from a face plant.

That being said - sharp said the Nolan stayed locked 100% of the time - my Neotec 2 is only rated at 70% - but still highly rated.

I'd say the guy got off just fine for falling on his face

I see guys riding with the chain bar flipped up. Might as well wear a 3/4 for all the good it's doing them.

Depends on the helmet. The LS2 helmets are rated as an open face and a closed face. The chin bar rotates all the way to the back of the helmet and the visor is still usable
Others (like my neotec 2) you can't lower the visor with the chin guard up - can't imagine riding like that.

I took two days off work this week to enjoy the warm weather, get a good ride in and see the foliage in Southern Ohio. I ended up near Columbus after the first day, so yesterday, I went to Iron Pony to look at helmets. I was using a cheap GMaxx MD-01. The unlock mechanism broke on it a while back, and GMaxx had not returned my emails or phone calls about getting replacement parts to fix it. So, I have been researching new Modulars. The nice thing about Iron Pony is they have a huge selection. I was able to try on multiple helmets and almost bought the C3 Pro. Nice helmet, just a little tight around my forehead. I liked some of the ones in the $300 dollar price range also and was debating with myself if I could spend $600+ on a helmet. I had ignored the Shoei Neotec II because I use a Cardo, and didn’t want to switch to a Sena sound system. The Salesman insisted that I at least try it on, and ignore the Sena part of it. As soon as I slipped the Neotec II on, I cussed, because I new I had just decided to spend too much money on a helmet. I bought it, and a Cardo mounting kit. I did a down and dirty install of the Cardo in the parking lot and headed down the road towards Hocking Hills for some, “me” time. I did 7 hours in the saddle with the new helmet and it’s comfort was amazing. It’s crazy quiet and gets great airflow. I still need to change my old JBL speakers over to it, and do a better install of the wires and such. But, I really enjoyed it. I am curious what the Sena system would sound like in it, since it’s designed for it. But, I do like jamming out while riding. Still not sure if it is worth the price, but it is definitely the best helmet I’ve ever wore.

I think you found the same thing that I did at the motorcycle show last year - that the C3 pro isn't quite oval enough to fit those of use with egg shaped heads and the Neotec 2 is. The Sena SRL2 system is not particularly loud, but it works well enough for me to hear it at highway speeds with my noise filtering earplugs in.

I will say that I disagree on the airflow aspect of the Neotec - I find that it doesn't get enough airflow when it is hot. One of the things on my todo list this winter is to disassemble it and see if I can open up the top venting a little.

It wasn’t very hot yesterday, probably in the mid 70’s, so it felt cool. I also embraced going bald this spring and started shaving what was left of my hair off, so I have no built in insulation. Lol

Hello,

‘’I like the fit of my ShoeiRF1200 size Large helmet. I also purchased the photo chromatic shield.

someday, I may get NeoTech 2 with its custom Comm system.

It seems that you cannot be a full "Stormtrooper" rider without showing your colors.....lol here is what I use - Scorpion EXO AT950...with a peculiar marking.....lol
