Windshield protection

Did some searching but it doesn't seem like there's a thread on this.
I purchased a Madstad windshield over the winter and was wondering if anyone has coated their windshield in a protective film or coating and what they used. I know you can get a protective film on a glass windshield but wonder if the material wouldn't work with plexiglass or other acrylic. My personal worry is branches hitting the windshield while riding singletrack.
I also wonder if a tint would work the same at protecting it....

Normally any tinting or protective film (smash 'n grab) would be fitted on the inside of the screen. I don't think that a film on the front of the screen will help a great deal to protect the screen from single track damage. There is no guarantee that any protective film on the outside of the screen will prevent damage from occuring. In fact, it may be more prone to damage as the film may aid an object to bite into the protective layer / screen, instead of bushing over the stock screen surface. Maybe I have it wrong.
What the protective film may help to limitt however, is possible dash board damage, as discussed in Melting instrument panel and cockpit

That's what I was worried about when first looking into it. Some films like 3M seem too soft to do any good...
The windshield came already tinted so I'm not too worried about UV damage to the dash, might be mistaken about a tinted shield helping with that though.

Lol the strom is wayyy too top heavy to have any semblance of proper singletrack riding, muddling through down a trail would be a better term.
I should amend that the type of "single track" we have up here is nothing more than ATV trails. Biggest issue is getting each wheel stuck in a different rut.

So after a bit of research and talking with different local shops I think I might try XPEL ultimate plus film. It's .0008in thick so thin enough to hopefully not cause too much warping in vision. Also dries/attaches as a harder surface than most clearbras.
I'm going to order a sample and apply it to see if it holds to the windshield, also see if it causes any issues with vision.
A piece large enough to cover the whole windshield doesn't seem too expensive (around $20-30) and I've worked with tints so shouldn't have too much of an issue applying it myself.

Have you tried some transparent vinyl wrap? It goes on easy, is very durable, and can be replaced once it gets too beat up. Also comes in a variety of colours.

Thought about it. Though if I'm correct it requires a heat gun to apply?
The guys over at Madstad advised me not to use a heat gun on the surface of their windshield and personally for the price of the shield I'd rather not risk it.
