Congrats, and enjoy your well-deserved retirement!

I'm honored to have been involved in a small way with the development of this fix. Many, many moons ago, I sent Terry my badly chuddering Vee's clutch basket as sort of a guinea pig.

The early version of the fix was fairly simple and quite successful, but later on he refined the process even more and made me a great offer, so I had him do the final version of the upgrade.

It would be interesting to know what the remaining "market" for the fix is; how many of these bikes are still out there "chuddering", and how many of their owners are willing to do the fix?

Here's hoping you can find a good home for the information involved!
BW Ringer,
I just order a clutch basket from Terry earlier today. I'm 61yo, been riding a motorcycle since I was 13. All the bikes I've had, I've never touched the inner workings of a clutch. I'm no mechanic, don't claim to be. I will dive into this and see what happens. I had intended to do this over the Winter but decided to wait 'til next year. I saw the post, and said, I better s^*t or get off the pot.

Congrats Terry. I retired about 3 yrs ago and could not be happier.......well..........let's just say I am happy NOT "working". Ha ha. I am actually "working" (playing??) every day the things I put off doing for 30 years. I never get bored, always something to be fixed around here, grandkids to be Uber'd, vacations, lake house, etc. My income is good, I feel blessed. I do not miss my engineering job at all......just a different chapter in my life.
Have fun.......come see us!!!!

Actually my wife and I were looking at planning an RV trip to include the Eastern V Strom Rally. That RV park across from one of the entrance roads to Ironhorse ( across from the small diner) has expanded and would be a good base to explore from. Also gets me away from the tyrannical lodging policies at Ironhorse! Have a new XR 150 Honda to commute over to Ironhorse on ( don't think I want to ride it from Houston....).

Have a great retirement Terry. Whoever said that retirement was boring had no imagination😉.
I worked with you as an early Guinea pig on the BMWST board when you were developing the final drive fill plugs.
If you ever come through central Texas let me know mate.

I am retiring.....not going to chase the last dollar like some do. My wife and I have worked very hard for nearly 50 years preparing for retirement. I don't have to work to eat, so I am going to spend a lot of time in the RV going all over the place. Plenty of other stuff to do as well. Like motorcycle trips that I am behind on! Due to Social Security laws I cannot run the business as I have been ( at least till I reach "full retirment age") and take my Social Security I have been paying into for all these years.

So I have made the decision to shut down WERKS Parts on May 31st of this year.

Many of you here have done business with me since I officially started my business in October 2012. I thank you and the thousands of others I have talked with and done business with for your support.

good thing i just got one! lol.
congratulations Terry! it was a pleasure doing business with you and i love my new clutch basket!

Terry, I no longer have my 2012 DL1000 but you have sent me at least a couple clutches.
We also met at Ironhorse Lodge several years ago and we (Tina and I) rode to Highlands, NC with you.
Let us know if you ever make it back to the NC mountains. Would love to ride again!

I just ordered mine. When I bought my '04 DL 1000 the clutch was making just a bit of noise and has the slightest "chudder" so I knew I'd eventually have to go for it. I've put it off for a couple years now. Glad I'm on Strom Trooper and signed up for the updates so I could get one before they're gone for good.
Have a good retirement Terry!

Terry, congratulations on pulling the trigger, did so myself 10 months ago and loving life! Question: do you have any suggestion as to where we might go in the future for basket modifications? Any one else doing a similar mod that will fix the chuddering?

Dave

Congrats. They say you could live 1/3 of your life retired. I could never balance fun and work at the same time. Take yourself to the responsibilities of a twelve year old kid ( but with a better allowance and a drivers license). Thanks for your contributions to this community.

Congrats on the retirement! I retired at 63 after a 41 year engineering career in corporate America. You are making the right choice! While I miss the interesting problem solving and some of the people, I don't miss most of the people and the corporate politics, and I stay busy with family, riding more than ever, and wrenching on my own bikes and other vehicles. There are still problems to solve! It's also nice to sometimes take a morning, afternoon, or a whole day to just "chill" and do nothing.

I put in a Werks basket in my 2003 SV1000S at 16kmi in 2016, still working well today 20k mi later (I have 4 other bikes to ride!). I live in Lebanon, MO right on I-44, a popular RV travel path. Stop by for coffee or a beer sometime!

Collecting benefits because you have informed Social Security that you have retired, and then continuing to work at the same company doing the same thing(s)?
That's quite common actually. Once a person reaches full retirement age, they can collect their SS benefit and make as much money as they want. Bill Gates can collect. Your wages are only limited if you retire early.

Terry said he can't own a business if he collects early, but his wife could because she has reached full retirement. There might be some rule preventing Terry working part time for his wife's business while collecting, but I suspect not. Anyway, he probably doesn't want to.
