According to the Suzuki rep at Bike Week, there are no immediate plans to update the Vee. He said it would be at least a couple of years. However, he may or may not be an authority on the subject. If the big ADV bike market stays as hot as it is now, it's hard to imagine why they wouldn't update it.

 

Here in the USA bike prices level off after about 8 years.

If you buy an 8 year old bike keep it well for a couple of years it is worth almost as much as you paid for it. Not including sales fees it is almost like just parking your money.

With bank interest almost zero, why not

rich, the new price here is € 17,000 (xe.com says that's about US$ 22,650 today) for the Yamaha. However, I'm in a position to buy it minus all taxes, so I'll get it for about € 11,250. I guess I could buy it, sell it in two years more or less what I bought it for, and buy the new Suzuki only I really don't like to sell my babies... plus, we've got the white one here..

 

It sure would be nice if they did update it to include abs.

Why the Vee does not have abs as an option is unthinkable.

That's one of a few new regulations the manufacturers are negotiating with the government on. Some of the manufacturers are going ahead and putting ABS on everything (BMW), others are waiting.

The new regulation that really has the manufacturers up in arms is the "Anti-Tampering" law. The law requires that the bikes be built in such a way to prevent things like installing a Power Commander and exhaust system. Riders are taking to the streets in protest over that one.
