Hey all,

Riding for more than a year on the 650 and I love it.
lately since I'm driving mostly at night I've been wanting to install Led driving lamps in addition to the regular head light.

A couple of things :

1. In my country the lights must be marked and with compliance to the EU / EC / ECE standards. other types are just illegal.

2. I want the lights to illuminate further down the road / highway.

3. I browsed a lot on the web and eventually got stuck on the PIAA products.

Can anyone here recommend a specific type to match the wee-strom.

other considerations:

- bang for buck
- how easy it is to install
- durability.
- power consumption of the battery

I'm showing a lot of interest on the PIAA 530.
other types/brands are also welcomed.

Attached an image of a newer version of the bike with how I would like to mount the lamps. once again, other comments/ recommendations are more than welcome.

Thanx a lot and merry christmas

Looks like the Piia 530 series is a 3W lamp, probably under 250 lumens each. When searching for aux lamps for increased nighttime vision and the biggest bang for the buck, keep in mind the lumens rating vs price. If there is no lumen rating, figure under 100 lumens per Watt depending on LED quality (HPLED). Of course your legal restrictions may narrow things down quite a bit.

Check out the Mondomoto MM10 LED light kit. I've had mine on both my BMW F650's and now my wee. Web price is $129USD for the kit. I've had motorists comment that they see me coming in broad daylight. At night they put out a pure, white light that lights the tree tops yet oncoming drivers don't flash me. This is the best thing I've ever added to my bike, much better than the headlight modulator. I've had the same pair on 3 bikes with no issues. By the way, I mounted them on the fender with the stock screws. Seems to be a good location.

Ok. WOW . you had me at hello :)
I saw them and they look good.
A lot cheaper than the PIAA that's for sure.
And from what you have described they produce good outcome.

But I'm still not sure about the legal issue. I don't want to blind other drivers. And also from the link you have supplied they are out of stock. Do you know where else I can get them?

How easy is it to mount them? wiring and such? battery load

The new PIAA LP270 driving light will be what I buy. It's rated for legal road use and wont glare compared to just adding round LED driving lights. Check the review here. Sure they arent sun exploding bright but worth it just for the sake of being able to leave them on.

PIAA LP270 sound great!

<b>Pros:<b>

* They are SAE/ECE compliant - very important(to me anyway).
* They don't overload the battery and the electricity system like other lamps.
* LED suppose to be better and more durable then H#/HID lamps.

<b>Cons:<b>

* The Price!!!! 300$ for the driving kit + extra 40$ for the brackets (But that PIAA O guess)
* They don't produce less light than other lamps but sufficient for my purposes I guess.

Did anyone actually mounted them on his bike and can share from his/her experience ?

I just want to know before I go and spent 300$ :)

I believe The Denali's are made specifically for twisted throttle. They are likely like other LED's where components are from China and then assembled in the USA lol

It's been a long time since I wrote here.
None the less, I still need your help.

I've decided to buy the Denali Micro Led And they sure look awesome and of good quality but not he On/Off switch which looks cheap and not durable what so ever.

Any ways I tried to install them and ran in some difficulties:

1. I've got the horizontal switch mount which arrived with few screws . I don't have any clue how it should be placed on the handle bars.

2. The location of the lights themselves.
I've chose to put them on the engine guards . I'm not so sure that the location I chose will protect them in case of a fall. but that's the least of my concerns.

3. How would I know the proper height or direction so they wont blind other drives on the road.

4. What is the best place to place the wiring ? I mean , where do you tuck them in?
Are they too close to the engine and it might fry them?
And how do you pass the wiring of the switch to the handle bar?
Do I need to dismantle the left and right farings?

I would appreciate any help I can get.

Attached some photos on how did I do so far.

Thanks a lot
