Hi guys just quick question recently I re vamped my old 2007 650 vstrom with a new aftermarket exhaust system , I've noticed now it's alot louder and bit annoying on long runs 😔 they shop I bought it from said it would make my bike run better for longer? I really feel I've done the wrong thing buying this system. Has anyone had similar experiences ? And am I better putting back on my original factory system 😤 kind regards Darren

First off, which aftermarket exhaust did you buy? Was the aftermarkt kit a slip-on or a complete system?
To me, a logical solution to help tame the exhaust sound, would be to either repack / rewrap the exhaust baffel or to install a db killer. The plus side of the aftermarket slip-on, is that it is a lighter weight than that of the stock can.
I suggest that you make use of the "Search Community" search bar, at the top of the page, and do a search using the wording db killer.

Yep, that was called the pea shooter mod. There a number of threads on the subject and on how to revese things if the exhaust mod was found to be offensive.
An example of some of those threads on the pea shooter mod, Cut the "Pea Shooter" DL650 exhaust mod, Gutting an 08 muffler and if you want to convert the stock exhaust to something close to a slip on, How I made a Slip-On out of a stock can or Raceratb.com
Also worth reading, Don't drill just cut the PEA SHOOTER OFF and Cut, Drill, Weld, Exhaust
