What do you folks do with your helmet when you get to your destination? Stick it on the mirror, use the under-seat lock, or carry it with you?

Either lock it in a top case or take it with you.

If you leave it unlocked, you are likely to come back to a missing helmet. There was a get together here in DFW a few months ago where some kids drove up to a group of parked bikes in a truck. One kid leaned out the window, grabbed a helmet, and they took off. There were 10-12 riders right there, but by the time anyone could react, the thieves were gone.

If you lock it to the bike using the under seat lock, thieves have been known to just cut the helmet strap. If you must lock it to the bike, use a steel cable around the chin bar and through the eye port.

I'll admit, most of the time I leave mine on the bars, unlocked. I tend to ride rural areas more than anything else, and when I do stop I'm close to the bike or in an area where snatch/grab crimes are rare at best. I've never had an issue, and if I'm going to be away from the bike I throw it in the topcase.

I use a handgun lock and put it around the chin bar and around the center of the handlebar (between the risers). Sits nice and neat and the lock comes with any handgun or you can pick them up for free at many local gun shops or your local PD dept.

mirrors

dont hang it off your mirrors as they can fall off and its a long drop . when i stop for a rest i hang it from the left passenger foot peg . im also one of the few that think the under the seat cable lock is a good thing if my top box is full

At work (parking garage) I leave it sitting on the tank, with a short cable lock routed through the chin piece and the handlebar clamp.

If I'm just stopping briefly (errands) I'll leave it sitting on the mirror, unlocked.

I usually just wind up taking it with me, otherwise I use a Pacsafe lidsafe. It's relatively small, fits in my tankbag, and has the bonus of keeping my helmet dry. They're a little expensive if you cant find them on sale; I got mine for about $30 when cyclegear carried them.
