Mirror extenders should work without interfering with any other hardware, certainly anything OEM.
Alternatively, there are various aftermarket mirrors that might help.

 

My bike came with the OEM hand guards. The one on the right butts right up against the brake fluid res, so I cant use an extender on that side

 

Unusual but remember that the hand guards are not necessarily designed for that specific bike.
Is it not possible to cut or file the hand guard down without affecting its strength?

 

My 800 came with bar end mirrors. They worked OK, but was always bumping them plus had to remove for OEM handguards. I bought a set of Kemimoto mirrors on Amazon that were identical to a Versys 300 I had. They work great for me.

That is what I have on my DL650. They work well
At the time you could also buy them with an indicator on the back, and LED's within the mirror to remind you they were on.
