Hey, just a quick hello. I just ordered a new 1050 ( non-DE), in Grey with red wheels.

I've been lurking here for a while and many years ago before I trained as a Paramedic I was a tech at a Suzuki dealer and also built race engines.

I have a couple of questions tho, the oil filter on these is quite exposed so I want some sort of skid plate/ protection for that, and also some lower protection/crash bars, but it's hard to figure out what's compatable with what. I have read here and elsewhere the crash bar threads, but is there a winning combination of the 2 accessories? The
Skid plate doesn't have to look/be too off road orientated, this is purely a road bike for me.

Other than those accessories, heated grips , GPS, luggage, and an aftermarket can to get rid of that awful silencer/muffler that Suzuki fit, it will probably be done.

Welcome,
If using as a pure road bike , I wouldn't worry too much about the filter being exposed , I have not heard of a problem there if used like that.
Cue multiple tales of woe...... :)
But to help keep the UK winter shart off , why not (y)

Thanks all.

Any immediate gotchas ... so far I have..

Rear axle thread galling
Lack of grease on wheel spindles
Lack of grease on rear suspension pivots
No anti-seize on pad pins

All normal stuff really, and will be taken care of long before first service.

Anything else immediate that I missed?

@strom90 yes winter shart indeed! I'll cover with ACF or something, thinking about springing for ceramic coat, not sure yet.

Thx

Sag yep, didn't cross my mind to mention it.
Spots...got some cheapies from Temu, if they're junk they only cost about ÂŁ8 but the Suzuki or Denali ones are big money!

Ride it..check...got plans for this bike!
