New chain is noisy on deceleration?

With just over 22K on my '11 Wee, I put on a new 525 x ring chain, reversing the slightly hooking front sprocket at the same time. Others have posted doing this with no issues but I can't think of any other logical reason for the noise...
I hear it any time I'm slowing with the clutch dis-engaged (engine braking).

Fresh oil change.

Anyway, to be on the safe side, I just ordered a new front sprocket. Don't like the sound....:thumbdown:

Sprocket with 22k miles and it's hooking...and thinking it's ok to reverse it and continue to use it vs. spending $20 and buying a new one? C'mon, you have to know better.

Keep up that line of thinking, we're going to send someone over to weld your toolbox shut for a wrenching time out! :yesnod:

IMO, it's never a very good idea to try & recycle parts like sprockets. If it's getting hooked, then it's time to trash it and get a new one. Just good insurance.

The sprockets are causing the noise. I did the same thing once in a pinch. Replaced them in short order.

No expensive chain and cheap on the sprocket

Never put a new chain on old sprockets. It's not worth it in the long run.

I wear my front sprocket before my chain.
