Such a PIA. Key on, kill switch in run position, Kickstand up, left button pressed slightly ahead of right, head tilted right, right foot tapping with heart rate, left foot making gentle reverse clockwise motions. I tried with engine running, not running. Pushing left top then bottom.

Still nothing.

This is what happens when an engineer who does not use the product designs it.

I am resetting at midnight with the battery option.

The clock setting for my 2014 DL 1000A is as follows:
  • Ignition on
  • Kill switch on
  • (kickstand just happened to be down)
  • Press n hold MODE ^ (up)
  • Then press n hold ADJ until...
  • All clock digits begin blinking
  • Use ADJ to change minute value
  • Use MODE ^ to change hour value
  • Press SEL to accept n save changes
Thanks to this thread for pointing me in the right direction!

After months of trying out crazy ways to adjust the clock i have finally figured it out. here is how i did it folks.
1. vehicle on side stand
2. ignition switched on
3.run button on and hazard warning off
4. traction control should NOT be highlighted in instrument cluster.

after ensuring these are done we move to the next part
1. button marked no 1 marked in yellow(the up arrow) to be pressed and held
2.while holding down button no 1 press button no 2 marked in yellow(the adjust ADJ button on instrument cluster) after about half a second delay.
3. while these two buttons are being held the clock display (both hour and minute )starts to flash in about 2 seconds. realease fingers from both buttons simultaneously
4. HOUR Adjustment. while the clock display is flashing press button 1( the up arrow) to adjust the hour. you may also press the down arrow to adjust the hour.
5.MINUTE Adjustment. While the clock is flashing press button 2(the adjust ADJ button on instrument cluster) the minute display will start to move fast. release the ADJ button quickly when the desired minute is reached.
6.press the SEL (select button) to set the time.

I was wondering how to set the clock recently so I looked in the manual. It says push & hold SEL and ADJ at the same time for a few seconds until the minutes start to blink, release and use ADJ to move to the proper time. Enter minutes by pressing SEL. That makes the hour then begin to blink. Use ADJ to set the hour and when ready hit SEL. Done. Nothing about any other buttons, or the kick stand, or standing on your left leg with your tongue out. I did notice at the beginning it seemed to work better if the screen displayed the odometer and not one of the trip meters. Maybe it was confused thinking I wanted to reset one of the trip meters. I thought it was funny that something so simple as setting the clock has multiple threads with multiple pages and massive confusion. 😀 And yes, I did just walk out into the garage to reset my clock and it worked easy the first time. (2008 Suzuki V-strom DL650)

Kill switch off, gear in neutral, key on, left and right button almost same time. If it didn't work within 5 second. Turn key off. Wait few seconds. Key on and try again. Works usually instantly for me.

geeez...is it true that this thread had 144.000 views .... can't be true, what seems to be the problem with setting up the time?

p.s. By the way how do I get the 24hr clock format ? 🤣

I Don't think the US 2017+ bikes have that. I tried several combinations of SEL & Dashboard buttons.
Difficult to do in traffic

Thank you for your post #126, genegeorge
It was very helpful (unlike the comedians who offer no assistance, other than to simply tell the OP to look at the User Manual).
I have a 2017 wee and your method worked, even though my bike was on the center stand at the time, not the side stand.

It would have made more sense if Suzuki had used the mode button to set the minutes and adj button for hours, since mode can scroll either up or down. Potentially 59 minutes to scroll through vs 12 hours. Pretty minor but a dumb oversight since it's only a software change.

A little different wording but the same procedure is used to adjust 2017-2022 650s, maybe others.
If you really want to get finicky, the display will flash for 9 seconds after the adjust button is released, then it will be set. So:
  • Use a time source that is geosynced, like a smartphone or watch, and set it to display the seconds
  • Set the bike's time for 1 minute ahead, then release the set button
  • re press the mode (handlebar switch)and set button (dash button) simultaneously at time +40 seconds
  • Release both at time plus 51 seconds and the clock will be set the same as the geosynced device when the flashing stops
