Free Stuff - pass it forward

Admittedly, this idea is not original. But I figured we should have our own free stuff thread like other forums do.

This is how it works:

1. "Sellers" post ads just like a an item for sale. Include details and a picture if possible.
2. No "wanted" posts! This thread is for giving, not asking!
3. Call "dibs" in the message string itself. PM the "seller" afterwards. Dibs are not claimed by PM.
4. It's OK to ask the dibs-taker to pay for shipping (only).
5. If someone calls dibs, then decides not to take the item, the "seller" should notify the next in line via PM.
6. If no one else has dibs, the "seller" should post a "still available" message.
7. When an item is no longer available, post an "item gone" message. This is to keep the "still available?" messages to a minimum.
8. It's OK, and the usual case, to have many items available simultaneously. One does not have to "go" before you post another.
9. You don't HAVE to post a free item after you've received one from another inmate, but that IS the whole idea!
10. Minimize post quoting.
11. Post items IN THIS THREAD ONLY.

So, to get things rolling, sort of, I've already given my stock windshield away to bassbronco_74.

Couple of things free to good home:

1 Stock Gen 1 650 windscreen. I used Novus polish to get it mostly transparent but it's yellowed and has some crazing

1 Stock Gen 1 650 seat, good condition. Previous owner had it redone and installed what I believe is a Utopia backrest mount. I ended up getting a Sargent and no longer need it.

...
Available now in Williamsburg, VA:

From a 1st gen DL650
  • Factory seat with added utopia backrest mount, great condition
  • Factory seat, hardened and split cover, good for the pan
  • Short windscreen, great condition
  • Factory windscreen, as described above polished with novus but a little yellowed

I'm moving in September and these must go. Prefer not to ship, pickup or I can bring to you if you're not too far away.

Free for the cost of USPS Priority Mail postage:

Yes, this is a pair of Warm'n'Safe Men's Ultimate Touring gloves, size large.

No, you shouldn't get too excited. The heating works only unevenly. It's pretty bad in the left glove: disappointingly not-hot overall, and the thumb only heats a little, or maybe not at all.

That's why these were replaced under warranty. Since I got a warranty replacement - and as I mentioned, they don't fully work - I wouldn't feel right selling them, so they're yours for USPS Priority Mail postage ($15).

They're pretty good gloves even without the heating - warm, well-made, and sporting more armor than many heated gloves including some reflective material. Yes, they're bulky, due in part to the 100g Thinsulate throughout. Depending on your preferences, you may find them suitable winter gloves even without the heating function. I was keeping them around as a backup pair, in case the newer ones failed too, but it hasn't happened, so I'd rather someone else enjoy them.

I also have this Joe Rocket Manta tank bag, likewise yours for $15 USPS Priority Mail postage:

Image

It is a good tank bag, though faded quite a bit by our brutal Southwest sun. The little plastic window for the "cell phone pocket" (clearly designed in the flip-phone era) has detached on one edge, but all the zippers are still healthy. Comes with shoulder strap, as shown.

Postage payment via PayPal, or USPS money order, please. Local deals possible in the Albuquerque, NM area.

Less "mainstream" for sure - not that the RDL is particularly mainstream like Corbin or Sargeant. I have a Rick Mayer seat on my Trophy - all the same family. I could not imagine a more comfortable seat. Many years old now and the leather is still in excellent condition. I do treat it every few years with Snowguard SNOW GUARD™ BOOT PROTECTOR .

Shipping: I have found FedEx undercuts USPS on some instances. They opened a FedEx satellite store inside my local Walmart and I have an account with them now. The UPS Store near me hardly ever charges what you determine it "should be" online based on size/weight/zips........it is always 10% higher (or even more??) when I get to the UPS store. Like Big Boy says below, USPS is almost always accurate and easy......just not the cheapest on occassion.

After a shipping debacle last month involving USPS and them taking a month to deliver a "Priority" mail package they are not on my most favored list.
Only 12 days this time on a Priority mail 2-day shipping! I guess that's an improvement. LOL I wasn't in a hurry for the seat, so it makes no difference to me. I'm actually surprised it showed up at all, after watching the tracking info for the better part of two weeks. Thanks again, John. Excellent give-away. Very good of you, sir.

If it will fit in a Priority Mail box, the rate generally can't be beat.

The other nice thing is that USPS will pick up from my door at no additional charge. UPS charged $11 for a pickup last year. I haven't tried FedEx but would guess they charge a pickup fee also.

Can we get back to using this forum for what is was designed for, rather than an ongoing commentary of shipping? WTF

Amazon has been buying airplanes lately for their own shipping. Not little Cessna types, either. Two B737's from Westjet and, I think two B767's from someone else. They are being converted from passenger to freighters now.

Turn signals from a K6 DL650, orange reflectors. One has broken housing but good bulb and harness. Other is in good shape, but harness is cut. Pay shipping and we’re good. Hopefully someone can use them, I haven’t hade my wee for a number of years, and these need to find a home :)

I'm running the Buell Signals, so cannot use. Wondering if the guts of one (with pigtail harness) can be transferred to the other (with good housing)??? Someone might want to explore the possibility??
