Ok all, did the search and read...

Wanted to know from someone who has switched from the 1000 seat to the lower OEM 650 seat, how does it compare in comfort? I don't mind the 1000 seat, but it's a tad high... I know the 650 seat has less padding, but does it make it uncomfortable (or noticeably more uncomfortable than the 1000 seat?)

Thanks

It was less about the padding, per se, than it was the shape. I hated the 650 seat, the 1000 was at least tolerable. The Corbin is great! :)

That said, everybody's butt is different, there are a few people who actually like the 650 seat.

My bike came with both. I rode on both, but switched to the 650 seat because it is lower. 28,000 miles and loving it

I switched from the 650 seat up to a 1000 seat and the 1000 seat is a bit wider and obviously taller. My butt felt about the same after say a 2 hour ride ( getting uncomfortable) but my knees were much happier due to the extra room. So be careful switching to the 650 seat because it will put more pressure on the knees.

Transferability of seats between the DL1000 and the DL650

I have 2012 DL650. While I find the stock seat comfortable enough as far as it goes, I wish it were a little taller. I'm 5'11", have a 32" inseam, but have had a knee replacement and lost some range of motion in my right knee. Does anyone know how much taller the DL1000 seat would be and is it transferable?

The DL 1000 seat will interchange only with the '04-'11 DL 650's. The 2012 and newer DL 650 seat is completely different.

I've switched to a 650 seat on my Vee. Like it better for height (also removed all but the front rubber bumpers). Comfort wise I am very comfy with it. This might be a factor of my weight also. Only weigh in at 143 lbs. and 5'7". If you are larger, it may not be as comfortable for you.
