BikeBandit - order delays

Over the years, BikeBandit's become my go-to source for most OEM replacement parts. To date, I've never been dissatisfied. But that may be changing...

A little over a week ago, I ordered a pair of replacement rubber inserts for my foot pegs. The next day I received a message stating the item was back-ordered (even though their website showed it to be 'Available and in stock') and if, after 25 days, they didn't have it they would cancel my order. A little inconvenient, but not a crucial item, so I figured I can wait it out.

Then, yesterday, I ordered a couple of more parts (front wheel ABS sensor and a brake hose retention clip). After every other order I've placed with them, I received an order confirmation almost immediately. Now, over 24 hours later, I haven't received any indication my order went through.

Is anyone else having problems witth BB? If so, what could be going on?

They supply a lot of OEM parts. First they have to get them from Suzuki or Triumph or Honda or whoever. Shipping from Japan could be buggered up right now.

Shipping is slow on a lot of bike stuff from all sorts of vendors. A givi bag I ordered a month ago from motostorm just shipped, delay was because of shutdown in italy. Unless vendors have stock, expect to wait a bit for factory orders on stuff made in Europe and Asia

I buy from Rocky Mt. ATV.

On the front page they explain shipping will take longer currently. I did order from them less than 2 weeks ago and got it a couple of days ago. Pre corona I would get an order in 2-3 days.

They did send an order confirmation and shipping notice.

I not complaining at all of course. I'm glad that they still have people working.

Something of an update...

Almost a week after placing my order I still had no order confirmation from BB. Today I tried calling them but the customer service number was busy each time. I ended up reaching out via their Live Chat option, which actually put me in touch with someone.

They explained all of my parts are likely in their warehouse, but they've been bottle-necked due to COVID-19 restrictions on how much their employees can work.

So I guess I just have to be patient.

My givi case got shipped from Italy on Wed last week and has been sitting at the FedEx terminal at CDG in france ever since. Not sure why

I had a similar experience earlier in the year when I ordered some replacement rubber plugs for some of my Givi hardware. I didn't realize they were coming from Italy, and my little package sat for weeks at a freight terminal in Switzerland. It took a couple of months for my order to arrive. But given what was happening in Italy at that time, it was understandable.

I tried to order some rear brake pads for my Super Tenere, but on Rocky Mountain's OEM order page, they list rear brake pads as "not being shipped". Not "out of stock" or "not available", but "not being shipped". I wonder that that means?

I ended up ordering a set from Partzilla, my first time ordering from them. They aren't going to ship til at least May 5, according to their confirmation email; orders are running from 3-5 business days late.

Getting OEM Euro or Asian parts now thru any distributor is taking long and longer if the parts are not in the US warehouses. Always ask if they are in country. Even then stateside OEM parts are taking longer. What took a week now took two weeks for my Kawasaki order.

I thought I'd provide an update on my BikeBandit experience.

One of the items I ordered through them (front ABS sensor) showed up about 2 months after I ordered it.

Another item (replacement rubber foot peg inserts) still haven't shown up, and we're going on 3 months. I ended up getting these through a local dealer (only a 2-week wait there). I've tried every method possible of canceling my BB order without success. Every time I've called their customer service line it's busy. My emails go unanswered. The LiveChat session I tried crashed before I could reach anyone. Every few days they send me an email apologizing for my order being delayed, yet the email itself says not to reply.

My saving grace was using PayPal to pay them. PP won't pay until the order is shipped, so they aren't sitting on my money. And enough time has passed that PP won't authorize payment anymore without me re-ordering.

I mainly wanted to provide a heads-up to anyone thinking about ordering from them. Over the years, I've been generally pleased with my BB experience, but it seems like the pandemic restrictions really hit them hard and I'm unsure how long it will take them to recover.
