I've seen online that the 15 and 16s have a revised longer maintenance schedule. Does the same apply to the 2014s?

The longer maintenance schedule would apply practically but not legally. The bikes are the same mechanically. If yours is out of warranty and you want to use the longer interval, do it. If it isn't out of warranty and you use the longer interval, the terms of the warranty are violated.

4000 miles service?

Are you still in warranty if you skip the 4000 miles service/maintenance on the 2014 DL1000A?

In Europe (Autobahn!) the UK magazine MCN (27 January 2014) article mentioned '... Suzuki’s press release states: “Extensive engine development has also led to an increase in service intervals for the V-Strom 1000. While the first service remains at 600 miles, subsequent service intervals have been confirmed at 12 months or 7,500 miles, making the V-Strom an even more affordable and practical proposition.” '

I can tell you for sure the '14s are on the short schedule. Suzuki isn't making anything retroactive. The schedule was only lengthened as a sales incentive so they aren't allowing fewer maintenance sessions on older bikes.
