1st Annual Fall Color Ride ~ COLORADO ~

September 27th - 30th.

I'll be leaving Flagstaff the morning of the 27th to ride up to Montrose, CO.

Montrose will be the base for the weekend. I have plenty of open floor to sleep on and a few beds in Montrose. Anyone is welcome to stay at the house. Feel free to find a hotel if you'd prefer. I may be able to get discounts if anyone is interested in that route.

Thursday's intention will be to get to Montrose and relax.

Friday and Saturday I have a few different ideas for enjoyable routes to take in the Fall colors.

One of them is: https://maps.google.com/maps?saddr=M...mra=ls&t=m&z=9

Another is taking the 90 out of Montrose to Naturita and looping back to Montrose on the 145/62. I haven't taken this route but I'd really love to check it out. I'm not sure of the road conditions other than they're dirt.

There are tons of options. I've taken Last Dollar road that shoots up over the mountains between Ridgway and Telluride on the Strom without issues. Dirt road, amazing scenery...

Sunday would be heading home. The route I'd like to take will be through Ouray and Silverton to Durango and then through Cortez.

Depending on how the rides go, how early we leave, I thought riding down to the Ouray Hot Springs would be fun one evening.

Anyone who's interested JOIN UP!!!!

It doesn't matter where you're coming from, meet up in Montrose on the 27th and we can go from there!!!

I might have another commitment, but if not I plan to make it. Should be a great ride.

Postpone your prior commitment... Fall in the San Juans can't be beat!

fall colours

fyi:

the stretch of US-550 between montrose & ouray has a high concentration of deer/elk accidents, after the sun begins to set...

ride w/ extreme care, please

sw

Everyone crashes. Some get back on. Some don't. Some can't.

I can certainly vouch for that! I ride through this stretch a few times a month, ALWAYS after dark.

The fencing and road constrution they've done in the last few years has helped A LOT. Keeping your eyes open and slowing down does wonders as well....

Oh man!!!!

I might be in, but I'm probably out. This looks awesome though. Hopefully I can make it next year.

If anything changes or you feel like getting out of town for just the evening, stop by!

I do plan on making it a yearly ride for sure!

My wife wants to go to Scotland and maybe visit Rome as well. She puts off the fall vacation (aniversary) so I can go archery hunting. Sooooooo Fall colors ride, or divorce, fall colors ride, or divorse, fall colors ride, or divorse, divorse = living under a bridge on I-25 for the rest of my life. Guess I'll miss this one.:bom_bigcry::bom_bigcry:
