Quincy-La Porte RD California

I will be making a business trip on my Wee from Seattle to Reno and then will be spending one night visiting a friend in Berkeley before heading back up to the Seattle area. The return will be Labor Day weekend and my thoughts are to avoid the sure to be crowded coastal highway during that weekend. Scanning Google maps I found the Quincy-La Porte road and then searching on that road it appears to be a well known road for motorcycling. Any updates on the condition of that road? Any thoughts as to how far I can make it from Berkeley leaving early in the AM? I am aiming for the Klamath Falls area and Hwy 97, anything to avoid I-5.

Thanks in advance

I did it when it was a dirt back road, now it's paved but a definite back road. Good stuff and have fun! It's in the piney woods. Nice Country!
Looks like 471 miles from Berkely to Klamath via Quincy-La Porte. That includes some Slab getting out of Berkley.
