Vegas - Best one day trips?

Hi all,

Will be in Vegas in October and have booked some bikes through Eagle Rider for 2 days. I am having a discussion with the folks I am riding with about two doable 1 day trips. By doable, I mean I am looking for trips in the 6 - 8 hr range. The people I am riding with are newer riders and are not too keen on riding 8+ hrs.

I saw the post by Medplt about this route;

"One of my favorite most of the day rides in the Las Vegas area is Valley of Fire then south along lake mead to hoover dam, and back through boulder city with a stop at the boulder dam brewing company. The reason to start at Valley of fire is you only have to pay once. It's the perfect two up most of the day excursion."

This seems like a great one, any estimate on time to do this at a leisurely pace?

The two other choices so far are 1) Death Valley and 2) Grand Canyon. Are either of those doable in the 6 - 8 hr range, yet still be able to see anything and not just getting there and back?

Any other suggestions?

Steve

All good options depending on weather.
As it gets closer post up and I'll see if Medplt and I are available to act as tour guides.
Keep in mind Zion in Utah also.

I saw a video from Zion and it looked awesome. How much time do you think you would need to tour the area? I suppose it is about 3 hrs there from the strip. Also, Mt Charleston looked pretty nice and fairly close.

You can get to Zion in about 2.5 hours depending on the route.
You could spend alot of time in Zion, but just hitting the Visitor Center and maybe a couple of the shorter Hikes would be a good day trip.
Mt. Charleston is an hour from the Strip and is OK if your in a crunch for time.
Its more a local get away in the summer to beat the heat.
