Possible 4 day yellowstone trip leaving from SLC July/August

I'm contemplating doing a 4 day trip through yellowstone this summer (end of July/early August) with a few friends, thought I'd ask if anyone was interested, and if anyone sees any problems, or has suggestions on the route we've laid out!

Wish I could join! I'd get off that interstate, take 89 through Logan and by Bear Lake. Logan to Garden City is a fun ride, I came that way home the year before last.

Jackson to SLC is an easy day ride. I had to go Jackson to Beaver, UT on my way home.. I could barely lift my leg over the seat to get back on the bike... Hahahaha..

What're your objectives for the trip? Places you have to go, things you want to see, things you want to do, etc...

I don't want to make too many suggestions if you have plans for each place you've plotted on the map, and 4 days will go by in a FLASH! Haha.

Just the usual. Yellowstone National Park - Yellowstone National Park Check the traffic updates & possible closures. If you fit the Senior Pass criteria, save $10 on the entrance fee. Have a plan B just in case.

Envious - haven't been through Logan / Bear Lake area since HS....uh, 33 years ago.

Avoid the freeways more if possible. Other than that it looks like a great ride with some beautiful scenery!

I'm open to any suggestions on route changes, this was just a tentative plan based loosely on another tour. My main objective is to get out and ride! I haven't done a "long" (more than a few hours) trip in 20 years! Every year I tell myself this year I will do a nice 4 day trip, and it never happens...that changes THIS YEAR! So, I figure if I get the wheels in motion now, and commit, there won't be any backing out! I haven't been through Yellowstone before, so it seemed like it might be fun, but I am totally open to suggestions that are achievable in about a 4 day RT total (like I said I haven't logged more than a few hours in the saddle in the last 20 years of bike riding), so I don't want to chance 1000 mile/day problems!

I'll watch this post for your updates. I may be able to ride if the timing works out.

Also, that time of the year, try to get up and on the bike early to ride through Yellowstone. Not only do you see more wildlife, but you'll avoid most of the crowds. So either time it so you're riding through at dawn or dusk.

Enter Yellowstone from the south and explore it completely. Exit the north side through Cooke City and eat at a diner on the north side, can't remember the name of the place. Continue on across Beartooth pass.

I took the opposite route and Yellowstone was mostly ho-hum, after beartooth.

Stop in at Cody, WY and spend a half day at Buffalo Bill Historical Center.

Pretty much concur with everyone. We have been around and through that area every year for the past 4 years. Explore smaller roads, there are many out there and stay off 15, skip SLC and deffinately do Beartooth. The tourists are more dangerous than the wildlife in Yellowstone. They stop in the middle of the road and get out to take pics. leaving their doors open. You will have a much better time on two lane roads the the freeways. Explore and have fun!
Look at 15 to 93 through wisdom. down 93 to 20 or over to sawtooth. Great riding there.

Garage
Bear Tooth Pass

I think you will be sorry if you are so close but miss Bear Tooth Pass. I've more time and will be out there at the end of June on an 8 to 10 week ride.
