LAX short term parking

I had to go to a flight in San Francisco, and with no time at all I parked at Los Angeles International in the exorbitant short-term-parking lot (feeling that the extra half-hour at work was worth the $30 to the company...sure it was!)

Anyway, it turns out that motorcycles park free at LAX short term parking. I can't quite believe it. I also can't imagine why anybody would drive a car there!

Free LAX parking

Excellent to know. I never would have thought it. It must be for all the lots next to the terminals.

If the meek inherent the earth who is going to drive the drag boats-?

I got the below info from the LAX website @ <http://www.lawa.org/welcome_lax.aspx?id=58>
Just don't use the sidewalks ...

Motorcycle Parking
Parking for motorcycles is free inside the Central Terminal Area parking structures.

When entering, drive carefully around the entrance gate arm and DO NOT take a ticket. Do not park in a space for a car. A motorcycle may be parked at the ends of rows, in corners, and in other spaces provided it does not block passenger traffic, paths for the disabled, automobile traffic, doors, elevators, driveways, etc. When exiting, drive carefully around the exit gate arms. Entering/exiting a lot via a sidewalk is not allowed.

I just did this a few weeks ago when my then fiance flew back from Europe. We got married in Vegas and I found out that almost every casino/hotel allowed us to park our motorcycle for free even if they charged for cars.

There was only one in Vegas that wanted to charge me to park but I can't remember its name. Just something to keep in mind as well. Make sure you don't park in the areas that might block the vending machines. They'll likely write you a ticket for that as well. Still it is cool you don't have to pay to park.

At LAX if you have a wide bike it might be a challenge to get around some of the gates as well. Also note the rules about riding across a sidewalk. I saw a cop give a motorcyclist a ticket the several times I was at LAX this trip. Only go through the normal car entrances and exits.

I have also parked for free at John Wayne (SNA). The signs don't officially say free parking but the area for motorcycles is just past the ticket gate and the space between the pilons is wide enough to get bikes through them. Did it no problem, as did many other bikes there.

Only caution I have is watch where you park, it is very easy to get blocked in if you park near the wall as others park in front of you

i want to do a fly-and-ride to LAX, leave the bike parked there in the free parking area in the Central Terminal Parking lot for 6 weeks, then fly back to the bike and ride again. Anyone know if there's a time limit at LAX? Wonder if 6 weeks is too long...

I contacted LAX management who said the limit is 30 days to park a bike in the Central Terminal for free.
