Sacramento area meet-up and ride?

Weather looks good next weekend....how about planning something? I've been in contact with Marku and he's good for Saturday, so that's two of us to begin with. It might be kind of hot in the lowlands, so the higher elevations might be preferable. One possible ride might be to meet for breakfast in Angel's Camp on Hwy 49, and then cross over the Ebbetts Pass to Markleeville, maybe with a short side excursion to Monitor Pass. It's a pretty loop, with still a fair amount of snow up high.

Markleeville, BTW, is a popular weekend gathering place for a lot of motorcyclists.

What'cha think, Sacstrommers?

Sounds like a nice ride...I've ridden that route a few times last year.
Is Ebbetts Pass open now?

ALL the passes -- 89,4,108,120 -- are now open. The only Sierra road still closed is Mormon Emigrant Trail from Pollock Pines to hwy 88. There is a small swale near the high end that collects deep snow and melts very late (Caltrans doesn't plow this road).

You in for Saturday?

breakfast in AC - how early

sounds like a nice loop--trying to figure what time from Pvlle to AC. Gotta admit I'm not much of morning guy on Sat after the workweek but I'll do my best - are you in placerville area?

I might be good for this but Angels camp for breakfast is a bit far. I dont have a problem going to Angels camp but I am like Marku and not much of a morning guy on Saturdays. If your targeting the sacramento crowd, why the meetup so far in the morning? Maybe placerville? that seems more doable.

Hey, I'm in Placerville too, so meeting up here is just fine by me. I thought that Angel's Camp might be better for some coming from lower in the valley (a couple of posters on the other thread were from Lodi and Stockton), but there doesn't seem to be much interest from that quarter for this Saturday's ride so let's make it P-ville.

Doesn't have to be too early, either, since days are pretty long now. We could all have breakfast at home, meet for coffee and BS at Starbucks on Broadway at 9:00 AM or so, then a couple of hours to AC, another couple of hours to Markleeville, and we'll be ready for lunch at the Cutthroat Saloon there. If riders from other parts of the valley are interested they can hook up with us in Angel's Camp as we pass through (and likely stop to take a piss:mrgreen or anywhere else along the route.

Let me check with the misses and I should be good to go on this one. I was hoping to ahve all my mods done by then but I dont think it will happen. Will this be a meelow/relaxed ride or a performance ride? Not sure I want to push the bike with the suspension the way it is, but as it is I am still good for 10 over the speed limit or so. Just no knee dragging....

Knee dragging? The last time I dragged a knee I was crawling across the living room carpet in a diaper. And that's about how fast I ride now.

LOL....funny....I dragged my pegs in a turn a few weeks ago and it didnt leave a good feeling. My suspension is too soft for a fat man.....

The wife approved so I suppose I am in if the ride is a go.

Now just for more people...have you posted on the other vstrom site?

Nope. I don't go there very often. Can you do it?
