Visiting San Francisco August 23rd

Greetings West Coast Troopers -

I am from Arlington, VA and I will be taking a vacation to San Francisco from August 16th to August 24th. I am flying over there to meet with a friend and go on a road trip up to Oregon to camp and view the total Solar Eclipse on the morning of August 21st. We are driving back down to SF on Tuesday August 22nd, and he will be back at work on Wednesday, but I do not fly back to DC until Thursday.

To entertain myself on Wednesday August 23rd, my idea is to rent a Wee and go for a cruise.

So far I have found a place to rent from (Dubbelju Rentals) and I am about to dive in to look for some routes. However I am all ears to other recommendations and advice for rental companies or fantastic rides from people with experience.

I have all day open, so a 6-8 hour round trip is welcome. Ideally I would like to get on Route 1 for a little bit, and then mix in some curves and climbing. This may or may not be all possible, but I should find out soon.

Also if anyone in the area wants to join, then absolutely let me know!

If you're in the San Francisco area, take a ride down the coast along CA-1 to Santa Cruz or even Monterey depending on how much time you have. Lot's of sonic coast line and good riding. If you want some mountain terrain, take CA-92 (either from CA-1 or I-280) to CA-35 which runs down the crest of the Santa Cruz Mountains. Stop in at Alice's Restaurant (Not THAT Alice's RestaurantO at the intersection of CA-35 and CA-84 at Woodside for lunch. It's greasy, but on the weekends it's a really bike meet. Even during the week there's a number of two wheelers there. You can either continue down CA-35 or take a right onto CA-84 to head down to La Honda and the San Gregorio on the coast and back up CA-1. Lot's of good coastal and mountain riding.
