Went through there last Sunday on my way to the LA area. I was quite surprised at how interesting that area is. I imagine this is the time of year to explore, although it was 33 degrees for a while in the early am when I went through!

Been varying weather every year.
Usually 30's when leaving Vegas and in 70's by time the group arrives at Furnace Creek.
Ive enjoyed every year and sure going to miss a great ride

Looking forward to the NYDV ride. You'll be missed on the ride Mike, I'll be sending you a route idea to see what you think.

I think 9:00 is a good KUP time. If I remember right we meet at the gas station at SR 159 and SR 160...then spend the rest of the day wandering around DV.

I usually make it a few times each season. I like to soak at the tubs at Tecopa and stop at the date ranch (china ranch). Yeah Badwater road is finally open. Beats droning along SR127 though The Amargosa Hotel is worth checking out at Death Valley Junction.
If you are adventurous you can visit the Barker Ranch and visit the cabin where they picked up Charlie. Personally I wouldn't do it on anything heavier than a DR650 but others do. See you on the trail.

A few of us popped into the springs at Tecopa a few years ago. Interesting place.
Over heard a conversation of retirees. One asked, "Where you going tomorrow? Other guy replied I dunno, depends on which the way the winds is blowing."
Definitely the vagabond life!

I'd give almost anything to be able to make this ride.
Trouble is I'd have to trailer my bike out of Iowa (more than likely there will be snow).
But have a friend who is also a Stromtrooper that lives in Mesquite, NV.
We'll see what we can do.

Did you check hotels in Beatty, NV? motel 6 is maybe around $60? 40 miles from furnace creek.

also the Longstreet Inn in Amargosa Valley, a few miles from Death Valley Junction. might be something around $70.

Maybe prices jump New Years? I usually tent or bring camper. plenty of camping. Campgrounds or a quiet spot up a canyon.
