Maintenance Check List

How bout starting a sticky thread with a list of things that should be checked regularly and the service intervals for each item. I've read through the manual and the stuff they have in there seems pretty light weight and sketchy compared to some other manuals. I have looked through the maintenance how-to thread and there appears to be a wealth of information about how to do stuff but us new guys could really benefit from a guide of when to do the "how" by maybe producing this list and then linking the list to the how part on the other thread? It seems very basic to change oil but I recently saw a post about weekly chain maintenance but I have no idea what is meant by weekly and I can only guess that the chain should be cleaned if dirty and to check the tension to ensure maximum chain life. You guys/girls that have the years of experience on this could really school us noobs and help to prevent some of the major repair bills if we knew more of what to check/adjust before we manage to break something from ignorance/neglect.

I would really appreciate the chance to stay ahead of trouble and I think others would too.

I thought this was a good idea, but, hey, maybe I'm wrong. Stranger things have happened...

I'm with you and would greatly appreciate such a list as well, unless it's already out there somewhere that we don't know about . . . Thanks! M

Chain maintenance isn't in the manual as weekly. Chain lubing every 500 miles is.

Pat- 2007 DL650A was ridden to all 48 contiguous states. I didn't quite make it to 17,000 miles on the 2012 DL650A.
Nicknames I use to lessen typing, Vee = 2002-2012 DL1000s. Vee2=2014-2016 DL1000s. Wee = 2004-2011 DL650s. Glee = 2012-2016 DL650s
