When to use the moly?

Question1:
I'm waiting on my Harbor Freight tool order before I take the cam covers off and check the valve clearances. If all is well, do I still use the moly lube on the cam lobes even if I don't remove the cam shafts?

Question2:
When using moly on the cam lobes, how much are we talking about? I've never checked the valves before and have never used assembly lube, so I have no idea of the consistency, so maybe it will be obvious when I go to use it, but if not, are we talking "use sparingly" or "there is no such thing as too much?"

Thanks, Jason

Garage
It's really only needed on initial assembly or a rebuild. Oil is all that is needed in a working engine.

Pat- 2007 DL650A was ridden to all 48 contiguous states. I didn't quite make it to 17,000 miles on the 2012 DL650A.
Nicknames I use to lessen typing, Vee = 2002-2012 DL1000s. Vee2=2014-2016 DL1000s. Wee = 2004-2011 DL650s. Glee = 2012-2016 DL650s

Oh. Cool. That will save me a few bucks then. I was just going by what the service manual says, but if Greywolf says I don't need it... I don't need it!

Thanks, Jason
