Stebel air horn installation

I have a strebel air horn I want to mount and wire, but where the heck is the stock horn located? I looked inside the fairing not removing any plastic panels with a flashlight and still can't find it.

It's behind the radiator.

Pat- 2007 DL650A was ridden to all 48 contiguous states. I didn't quite make it to 17,000 miles on the 2012 DL650A.
Nicknames I use to lessen typing, Vee = 2002-2012 DL1000s. Vee2=2014-2016 DL1000s. Wee = 2004-2011 DL650s. Glee = 2012-2016 DL650s

Yeah - the Original horn is behind the radiator upper left corner. I just mounted my Stebel Horn, was able to put it in the middle of the bike, sort of under my seat. Thought this would be a good place instead of behind the left front fairing. It's loud, tried it under the overpass yesterday - WOW!!

I haven't gone out to look at it since I'm at work now. My next question is, can I mount the stebel on the stock horn mount or will I need to fabricate a new mount? Mounting it under the seat is interesting. To mount it under the seat, did you have to remove anything to get access to the area where you mounted the stebel?

You can put the relay where the stock horn is now. The Stebel won't fit there. The usual mounting place is to the left or right of the fork tubes inside the fairing. A commercial bracket can be used. http://www.patwalshdesigns.com/hornbrkt.html is one. I used a pipe grounding lug and a trimmed piece of aluminum angle stock.

Stebel under seat

I have more pictures of the electrical I can take and then point out to you. I bought the electrical kit from Pat Wash designs, also the bracket but didn't need it. Below are a few pictures of my horn mounted under the seat. I had to make my own bracket, and it scred right into existing holes, I did use a little longer screws though. Under the battery area is a plastic type splash gaurd, that's held by 2 screws and 2 push clip things. Putting everything back in with the horn was a little tricky, but do-able. A phillips bit in a 1/4 ratchet is very useful for this. A screwdriver is too long.

That's where the ABS unitis mounted on DL650As. You can even see the tapped hole in the frame member.

You talking about the two holes ( 1 left + 1 right) in the frame at about that same area? I thought of making a horn mount using those holes, still might.
