Right EBC brake pads?

I purchased EBC HH brake pads (FA140HH) for my 2005 DL-650 from bikebandits.com. The pads I received look slightly different. The extension opposite to the pin hole are not notched and much narrower (16 mm vs. 21). [see attached pics]. Are these the right pads for my bike?

No. Those are Buell rear pads.
FA231HH-V-Strom 650/1000 Front Right
FA229HH-V-Strom 650/1000 Front Left
FA174HH-V-Strom 650/1000 Rear

Pat- 2007 DL650A was ridden to all 48 contiguous states. I didn't quite make it to 17,000 miles on the 2012 DL650A.

It's time to change my front brake pads and the fella I bought the bike from included a set (FA231HH/FA229HH).

Came here to see if these were the ticket (or at least suitable) and glad to see your input already, Greywolf. Thanks.

My past few rides, I've heard some sort of sound up front when I've had to appy the brakes pretty aggressively. Not sure what it is, but it doesn't sound right. Kinda like a clunk... maybe the calipers not letting loose immediately? Anyway. I'll clean up the calipers and change out the pads and see how it rolls.

Thanks - Mike

Make sure all the parts are there. If the pads were changed before, sometimes parts #14 and 15 are thrown out with the old pads they are attached to. A clunk when braking is most often from the rear brake carrier keyway being above the key in the swingarm instead of on it. If the rear caliper can be rotated upward, that's the problem.

I pulled one of the front rotors and, comparing the installed pads with the new pads, I can't see there is any reason to change them. They're not that worn to me. How do they look to you?

I checked the back caliper and it does not rotate. #14 and 15 on the fronts are there too. From the looks of the pads, could these possibly be the originals? The EBCs don't have the grooves cut in them like those pictured in your attachment (or like those currently on it which matches the picture).

Those pads look fine. Stockers are grooved as wear indicators and maybe for cooling. The EBC HH pads will provide the same power with less effort if that is of interest. The sound could be the famous V-Strom clunk that comes from compressing the front suspension quickly.

Oddly enough the same thing happened to me when I picked up new rear pads a few weeks ago. Might have been a recent part number change?
