Odd Surging

No not the stumble that occurs at 3000 RPM.

I started feeling an odd surge, for the lack of a better term. It occurs when I am at a steady speed, regardless of speed or RPM. I do not notice it accelerating. It is more felt than heard.

I changed plugs (what a pain in the ass), checked the TPS and TBS. Everything's OK. I am suspecting it is my chain. It is suffering from end of life issues. It has went many thousands of miles without needing tightened, now I have to adjust every couple hundred miles and I am nearing the end of the travel. I think this is the original chain with 20,000 miles, so it is soon to be replaced.

Any thoughts?

Thanks, Dusty

If it's the original, it's ready.

Question suging at steady speed

I have a 2005 DL1000. it surges between 3500 & 4000 rpm. Ijust replaced the chain 600 miles ago I do not feel it on acceleration.I also get a slight back fire through the T-bodys I had the T-bodies sync'd in durango in june and a new clutch installed. I am still getting used to keeping it above 3500 rpm. Any help would be

Similar problem

Not sure if our issues are the same but I felt a similar "surging" around 4,000 - 5,000 rpm and noticed a loss of power. I had it checked and it's the fuel filter. I haven't had it replaced yet so I can't report on the improvement but I'll report back as soon as I do.
