Running a Gen2 650 with cowling removed

I recently learned that on the Gen2 650's the easiest way to get to the throttle bodies or other engine work such as a valve adjust is to remove the front cowling. Does anyone know if the engine will run without the cowling attached? Could anything be damaged by not having the electrical connectors on the left side of the cowling unplugged. Thanks.

Answering my own questions here... the answer is yes. I reinstalled my throttle bodies and the tank and the motor runs without the instrument panel/cowling electrics. Because the tach was off I used an external tach and was pleased that motor starts and idled fine after some mods and adjustments to the throttle bodies. I'll put everything back together tomorrow and take it for a spin, hard to tell in the garage but it feels like it is running a lot smoother already.
