For my friend..

Hi.... KLR 650 guy here. My good friend who lives in WA has a V-Strom. We rode together (me on a Goldwing) to Coldfoot, AK years ago. I rode from Florida and met Bill in TOK.

He is 74 or so and we are meeting up in a month to ride to TUK. He needs tires, sprockets and a chain for a 7000 mile ride.

I suggested the Scouts. Any ideas other than that?

He needs sprockets and a chain too.

He is in Redmond, WA. So, any suggestions on a shop would be appreciated.

I like the Sprocket Center. They carry a choice of quality chains and you can configure them how you want sprocket-wise:

I ran one set of K-60 Scouts, but now am on my second Mitas E07 Dakar rear and it's the only rear I wil ever run. It will do 7K easy, and most run well over 10K. As for the front, most like a big block like the Contenental TKC80, or the cheaper Kenda's. Either one should get one home on 7K.

Currently I am running a discontinued Mitas on the front...great tire and I bought 3 of them, have one left that goes on this summer. If I stick with Mitas I am going to look into the E10 or the brand new E07+: but fronts are only available in 120/70/19 for now.
Stalky Tracker and Big B like this.

Just so you know, we will be expecting a full ride-report, complete with pictures. You guys will be pioneers.

This trip is on my near-future to-do list.

I imagine the road will still be quite rocky until it has seen some use.
