Fan Working Properly?

At what point is my 1000's fan supposed to kick on? After riding for about a half hour in 70 degree weather I stopped in the driveway and the temp. gauge went up to three bars. I thought the fan would've kicked in at that point but after a few minutes of watching it it never did. Based on reading a few threads in this area I don't ride around with an IR thermometer testing my bike's temp so I'm hoping for an answer stated in temp gauge bars.

Each "bar" on the temp gauge represents a range of temperatures, so the gauge isn't always as helpful as you'd like. The fan doesn't come on right when the third bar lights up, the coolant has to be hotter than that. If you leave the bike idling long enough, the fan should come on, but it may take a few minutes after the third bar lights up.

The DL1000's fan turns on at approximately 105 degrees C and turns off at about 100 degrees C. Three bars show on the gauge from 100C to 111C.

Pat- 2007 DL650A was ridden to all 48 contiguous states. I didn't quite make it to 17,000 miles on the 2012 DL650A.
Nicknames I use to lessen typing, Vee = 2002-2012 DL1000s. Vee2=2014-2016 DL1000s. Wee = 2004-2011 DL650s. Glee = 2012-2016 DL650s
