Cable Maintenance

I've searched the forums and can find nothing about cable maintenance. The owners manual and shop manual have nothing that I can find either.

Do the cables need to be lubricated periodically? If so, how often?

Thanks. And if I missed postings or information somewhere I apologize.

Darrell

They don't need to be lubricated. I think Greywolf mentioned that they are Teflon lined or lifetime lubricated. I don't remember which but I do recall him saying that they do not need to be lubed (thanks GW!).

Teflon lined. The barrel ends do need to be greased though. I squirt a little DuPont multipurpose lube on them every Spring along with the stand pivots

Pat- 2007 DL650A was ridden to all 48 contiguous states. I didn't quite make it to 17,000 miles on the 2012 DL650A.

Thanks GW. I guess I should go buy some DuPont multipurpose lube then. Since I purchased the bike in December 07, I've only lubed the chain and other locations but not the barrel ends.
