'07 650 won't start after washing

I've looked through all the threads and can't seem to find this one so hopefully somebody can help. Today, I gently washed my bike. Then, it wouldn't start. Turn the key, all gauges do what they normally do and the system seems to 'check' fine. Everything seems normal, except it won't turn over at all when ignition button is pushed. Full voltage at all fuses and good contact and voltage at battery. Kill switch and kick stand switch seem to be working properly (near as I can tell). Put plyers across the solenoid contacts and it fires right up and runs great. I've seen reference to troubles after washing these bikes but can't seem to find specifics of what might be going on. I'm guessing that it could be a coincidence that I just washed it? Can anyone point me in the right direction? Any help greatly apprectiated.

Tim

Check the wires at the clutch lever.

Pat- 2007 DL650A was ridden to all 48 contiguous states. I didn't quite make it to 17,000 miles on the 2012 DL650A.

Thumbs up

Thanks greywolf and Jstrom. I thought that I hadn't not overlooked the obvious but evidently I had. You were both right and the clutch lever wire was loosened off. Pushed it back tight and voila! I'm back in business. FYI, you saved me some heartache and some $ since the dealer was unable to offer any suggestions.

Thanks again,

Tim

I had the same problem but my cluch switch was OK. I checked on other forums and noticed that two other riders had the same problem. It turns out that I had washed the bugs out of my radiator with my power washer. That flooded the spark plug on the forward cylinder.
The bike did not star for a couple of days so I decided to blow air with my compressor on the plug and then spray some WD40. The bike started after that and ran as if nothing had happened.

Check to see if the drain tunnel is clogged. The spark plug well is not supposed to hold water.
