Internal oil screen debris

While changing the water pump seal I found this stuff under the internal oil screen... Any ideas?

There's usually debris on the oil screen first time you check it. Usually more worrying metal bits than that. I'd guess that's gasket glue of some sort.

Stop worrying, this is normal on any new engine.

Yep, that's a very normal amount of bits of the case sealer used when assembling the engine. Actually, I'd consider that a pretty light harvest -- a bit less than what I've seen in other engines.

Don't worry about it for one second.

OK, if the penny came from inside the engine that would be a little strange... I'd expect a 1 yen coin.

Talking Thanks

Thanks for the replies. I will press on the put her back together!

The penny did surprise me but that explains the high copper remark from Blackstone labs oil analysis.

Just to reinforce what other's have stated, here's a picture from my KLR with similar (likely) gastket sealing material.

Hopefully not plastic drive gears, like for the oil pump. Water pump also?

It's better than bearing cage parts DAMHIK.

Silicone black or orange can clog up oil passages!

2012 Suzuki DL650AL2, over 45k miles already!
