ABS light stays on

I haven't even picked up my bike/16 Strom 1000 yet and there is an issue. The ABS light stays on. The dealer(Portland) has tried to diagnose, but has not come up with a source as to why the light is not going off. I am not sure if the light has to go off while bike is still standing/engine idling or you have to move for it to go off. They plan to contact Suzuki on Tuesday. So at present , the ABS is not working, on a brand new bike !
Has anyone out there in Strom land had this issue ? What was the fix ?

What Matt650 and enumclaw said. The system can't know if the ABS is working until there is a speed input from the wheel sensors, so the light stays on until you are rolling. I fitted an ABS switch on mine, and while riding I notice a 1/2 second delay between turning the ABS back on and the light going out.

One additional bit of input, when I test rode the bike the ABS light stayed on. I past that info on to service dept. , but only after they contacted me about the ABS light staying on( I had lost track of it). I have to assume that they have noticed it as bike was test driven by mechanic the day before scheduled pick-up, last week Saturday. At this early stage of my relationship with them I want to believe that they know what they are doing.

Hi juergeens53
I had the same problem with mine, turned out the abs wire on the front wheel had been routed incorrectly and had worn through the insulation from rubbing against the front disc. A little electrical tape and the ABS was working again.
Hope your issue is as simple as mine.

I had this problem once, I doubt it would be the problem with a new bike, but you never know.

After replacing a rear tire my ABS light stayed on when driving. After checking the rear sensor and wiring for damage I noticed the slotted ABS ring that the sensor read was warped, it must have been damage during the tire change. Without taking the wheel off I was able to straiten the ring out, I was surprised how easy it was to bend, and the problem disappeared. I now take the rear sensor off to make tire changes easier and with less chance of damaging the ring.

Always remove the sensors before taking off the wheels. It's too easy to damage something expensive.

Just picked up my brand new 1000, dealer service department replaced ABS module(under seat) with another new one from a bike still in box, problem solved !! So, faulty ABS module, how often does that happen ?
From now on, as I plan on piling on the miles, I expect no issues what so ever.
QUESTION:
For you riders who have a center stand installed, where do you place your right hand to rock the bike on stand, since, unlike BMW who provides an grab handle, there is none on the Stroms ?
BTW, I have the OEM center stand.

If you have the stock Factory Centerstand you just need to put your weight on the part of the stand that sticks out. It will pretty much put the bike up by itself with just gentle effort on the passenger grab handle. (I generally hold the passenger grab handle with one hand and the left handgrip with the other but little effort is needed with the hands.)

If you place enough weight onto the stand you should not need to rock the bike just hold it steady.

I use my left hand on the left bar grip and my right hand on the left side passengers grab rail and put all your weight on the stand and it should just roll up onto the stand.
