Where do I buy a Code Reader?

I am new on the forum so I hope this isn't covered somewhere else but my 2004 DL 1000 is having a Fuel Injection failure that comes and goes. I am guessing that it is just a bad connection but I don't know where to look. Where could I find a Code Reader at a reasonable price? I live in Washington State.

You don't need a code reader, you just need to get the bike to dealer mode and read the numbers displayed and translate those against the chart of the faults. And you don't need the jumper switch, special dealer part number, all you need to do is to jump the two contacts using a wire, a paper clip or just about anything else that is conductive.

this link above will give some information on the process and the codes though there may be more found in the service manual.

A copy of the manual can be found here at the bottom of the page:

"Travel has no longer any charm for me. I have seen all the foreign countries I want to except heaven & hell & I have only a vague curiosity about one of those."

Thanks, I already downloaded the manual, now if I can find the right plug to jump I may be in business.

I have an 03 and I found the dealer interface plug under the left side cover. It is a white plastic plug with a rubber cover over it. The rubber cover has a loop on it that goes around the wire harness so it doesn't fall off. The service manual shows it ahead of the crossmember that goes behind the tool tray but mine isn't long enough to stretch that far. When you find it, it only has 2 female prongs and these are the prongs that you jump across.
