What service requires removal of Givi Guards?

Easy question for those who have a few more miles than I - What maintenance or service requires removal of the Givi Engine Guards on a DL650?

The bars might immediately intefere with the removal of the side panels, and the engine itself, no doubt. Can't comment more, unfortunately.

I've never had a problem with mine when servicing for anything so far. New plugs, valve clearance adjustments, air cleaner, etc.

I was installing a Powelet switch on my '02 DL1000 and was running the wiring harness and the intallation instructions said to remove the left panel and I couldnt get that panel off with the GIVI bars. I was able to route the harness as needed with the panel unbolted and just being loose. But it would have been nice to have been able to remove it completely. I tried all kind of angle, etc.. and I couldnt to do. I was afraid I would break something.

Have you taken your side panels off with the GIVI bars on?

I have the Givi's on the bike and only issue to remove some bodywork is that I can't use a T-handled allen wrench on one fastener on each side, need to use a little L wrench, but otherwise no issues in any servicing.
