Yesterday I removed the countershaft cover to do a sprocket inspection. If you have not done it, you have to remove the speed sensor and clutch "slave". It's super easy to do.
There is a pin that goes in between the clutch slave and the motor (for lack of a better term). The pin is exposed to all of the sludge that is spun around in the sprocket area. My pin was coated with junk. I sprayed it down with brake parts cleaner and scrubbed it with steel wool.
I also cleaned off the piston on the slave, removing the gunk that was on it.
Now my strom shifts so much smoother, and for some strange reason it doesn't shut off when I stop. My just be coincidence but.......
