Oily Question

Does Oil Expand?

When Cold, my oil level is right on the F Line.

When HOT, the Sight glass is all filled up.. only a Tiny air bubbble at the top. When it cools.. it goes back to the F Line.

Ive seen this before on other bikes. I dont think it's a real problem (am I wrong).

Last Batch I ran Amsoil.. this problem did not exist (I dont think).

This Batch I switched to the Rotella T Synthetic..

OK

SO, can you explain this?

The Bike is on the Centerstand on the level Garage Floor..

Why the changing levels?
Some oils it does it.. some it does not?
Does this happen to you

Might I add it runs like a Swiss Watch 8)

Yes, oil expands. I would be surprised if there were oils that did not expand when heated. The difference may have been due to some burnoff or looking in the glass too soon after shutting off.

I usually fill to about halfway up in the sight glass so that the level is near the F line when the oil is warm. It's not a real problem as long as the oil is in between the F and L lines when cool.
