Thumbs up Starter getting cranky....

So at 262,000 some odd KM's, my starter was indicating it was on its way out. Slow cranking and sometimes no cranking. Found a place on [email protected] that sells brush kits for many makes of bikes. The price was right, shipping was very very fast and a very easy install. Parts seemed to be of top quality and way way cheaper than getting them from Suzuki. My brushes were worn right down to the point they were barely making contact (the result of being started 1,000's of times). The bearing and bushing were in great shape and new ones along with all required seals/o-rings are included in the 21.00 price along with free shipping. If anyone finds they are in need of a kit, search out "crank-in-charge". Total fix time was less than an hour and very basic tools required.

Cheers!

ps: I have zero stake in the company, just wanted to pass along a place to get parts at a very reasonable price.

Cheers!

If you're waiting for your Wee to wear out to the point it constitutes buying a new bike, you might be cold dead in the grave before then.... Might I suggest pushing it onto some train tracks and claiming it was run over in a parking lot?:biggrinjester:

In about 2 years of fairly faithful (daily) reading on this forum I believe this is the first starter-motor-related post I have seen.

262,000 km is about 163,000 miles.

A strong testament, I think, to the incredible durability (and dependability) of these machines.

2007 Wee. Blue. Bought at 5K miles. Sold at 32K+ miles. Gone but not forgotten.

2012 Wee2 Adventure. Black. Bought at 26K miles. Now 46K+. Love it!

I'm thinking my next move is to forget to put oil in it at the next change....:beatnik:

I have been eyeballing the new Moto Guzzi Stelvio and the Triumph Tiger Explorer, but now seeing the '14 VStrom 1000 I will anxiously await magazine tests on it as well.

So many decisions...

cheers!

Yeah, but with your luck on longevity, it will probably run even better without oil...
