Paint issue

Does anyone, by any chance, know which brand of paint Suzuki applies on its bikes? In particular I am searching for a dark blue formula for my DL 1000 '03.

Color-rite does list the '03 V-Strom on their website and they show the blue color. They are pricey, but they are the only place I know that matches OEM motorcycle paint colors.

Thank you, Paul. But they offer only touch-up stuff which will hardly substitute for a multilayer paint used. I have a touch up pen already, however it will do for small scratches only, and I need to cover much larger area.

I can speak from experience on this one. I used to work in a body-shop and I have painted several bikes over the past few years. Any good painter should be able to match any color as long as he has a piece of the plastic in his hand to use as a reference. Check out a couple of different body shops in your area and ask to speak to the painter to see if he would consider mixing up some paint for you or even paint the parts for you.

Done already. Actually this is not my first experience of the kind. I had many bikes painted before, however none of the painters could ever find the right color. When painted and original parts are adjacent, the difference in colors becomes noticeable. Sure I will continue my quest for a good painter, still the brand and formula would make it as easy as pie.

Find eventually a close color from Sikkens, though cheaper than Color-Rite's but still not close enough. Should have contacted local dealer of PPG better & shown him the color number rite suggests. This way one can save some time on delivery. Yet to avoid all this mess I consider acquiring protective bows like I happen to see some day & take the picture of. They will take care of especially vulnerable cowlings, radiator & gas tank. And I seem to find arguably the best alternative to the stock windshields, also featured in the picture.
