sure sounds confusing. I would have sworn that there were NO differences between the SV and the DL650 except Mapping and Ratio. Nothing else drivetrain-related. To my knowledge there is no reason why the two should have sharply different characteristics.
I have only ridden two DL650's: mine, and the one I test-rode which had a few hundreds of miles on it. I remembered thinking that the tester was a lot more rattley than what I expected, especially at idle/neutral. Mine is the same way: to me its noisy, rattling [somewhere between a sharp tap and a knock] just sitting there, but as soon as you let out the clutch that stops and other noises take over. I was reading a remark re: windshields where one brit, after getting a GOOD windshield, noted how noisy this little engine is. Taken altogether, its a noisemaker that I guess can be more exagerrated due to tuning issues.
If evolution is valid, why do I still bite my tongue occasionally?
