Brake Light Sticking On
Went for separate rides with "thefifthcircle" and "plybelle" last weekend. Both of them noticed that my brake light was staying on - sometimes for miles at a time.
I could not reproduce the problem in my garage. I did notice that there was some gunk buildup around the foot brake lever pivot, and all controls felt just a tad scratchy in operation - it's been awhile since I lubed everything.
I hit all pivot points and the brake light switch with WD-40 to clean them out. The next day I bought a spray can of Autozone All Purpose Lubricant at the local Autozone store (3-in-one oil is just a pain to use in some spots). Lubed everything up good. Went for a ride yesterday and checked my foot position. I definitely do not cover the foot brake when I ride - my boot is well off to the side of the lever.
Hopefully, the lube job took care of it. If it is an electrical short, I don't have the expertise to trouble shoot it. Problem is, I can't see my brake light when I ride to confirm that it is working properly.
Has anyone else experienced this problem? Any thoughts on this would be welcome.
Also, if either of you Omaha Stromtroopers have time for a ride in the near future, I'd appreciate having you follow me for a hour or so to see if the problem is fixed or not.
