V-Rated Metzeler Tourance Question

Has anyone put these on their V-Strom? How do they ride compared to the Bridgestones and other tires?

metzeler tires

I have the H rated Tourances on my bike. I like them a lot better than the stock Bridgestones. I've got over 8,000 miles and they still have a lot of life left in them. I wouldn't bother with the V rated tires. The Hs will wear better. I only got 8,300 miles out of the rear Bridgestone.

I've used both the V rated and H rated Tourances. I can't feel any difference in handling and I ride hard enough to wear out a rear tire in less than 3000 miles. The Tourances are superior to the stock tires in every way. The stock tires will run out of tread if you lean the bike over far enough. The tourances last longer too.

H-Rated Metzler Tourance

I changed out the stock Bridgestone tyres for H-Rated Metzler Tourance models at 7000 miles. The stock tyres had a discomforting tendency to skid, particularly in the wet  ! It didn't seem to matter whether this was a "straight-up" stop or cornerning in the Scottish Highlands.

I've put 2000 miles on these tyres and the difference is remarkable, the wear so far has been nominal, and the bike is now altogether more enjoyable. The local fitter talked me out of the tyres I had installed on my previous Suzuki Bandit, suggesting Tourance tyres are stock on BMW touring bikes. I need to go back and tell him he was right.

Enjoy.

Metzlers

I liked the original Bridgestone Trailwings on the bike and wanted to put a new rear tire on the back. I went 20,000 km on the tire. Really liked the tire. What i found out was that the OME tire is manufactured differently then the same tire you would buy from your local dealer. They told me that the OME tire is manufactured specifically for the bike. Supposedly the OME tire will last longer then the other one. I wore the tire down until it was bald and was worried about hydro planeing. Couldn't wait for a OME tire to come from Japan so I bought the H Tourance. Can't say much about the tire because I just put it on, but I'am pressuming I will get good tire wear because it is made for the GS whitch is 100lbs heavier then the Strom.

Wow scooter, I only got 9000km out of the rear oem Trailwing on my V-Strom. I probably could have gotten another 2000km out of it, but I was leaving on a week long tour that would put another 4000km on it and I didn't want a bald tire half way through.

I replaced it with a Michelin Anakee which i really like. The front Trailwing now has 16,000km on it and looks like it has a few thousand km still in it, but I can't wait to put a matching Anakee up there.
