Another Windshield Thread (Sorry)

Hi Forum,
I'm a newbie here, though I've had my 'Strom since Aug. 2005. Some of you may know me from klr650.net. Anyway, I've read through the multitude of windshield threads but still am not very clear on what I am going to get so I'd like your help but I'll be specific.

I've got an '02 with a Suzuki tall windshield(which I'll be selling if anyone wants it), and want to replace it.

I'm about 5'11" with about a 30-31" inseam and a fairly long torso. I would like something that helps with the buffeting and noise (wishful thinking?)

I think at the top of my list is the Zero Gravity Double Bubble and Cee Bailey 22" (+6"). I've also glanced at the WindStrom Manta and Givi shields. If any of you have experience with these shields and/or are around my size, I would greatly appreciate your input.

Thanks and nice to be here, -Brandon-

Thanks for the threads, Phantom.

Anyway, I've read through many of the numerous windshield threads before, but I'm wondering if anyone around my height has experience with different windshields on the pre-2004 bikes?

Just remember higher is not always better. Try low with some tilt.

It's more fun to ride a slow bike fast than to ride a fast bike slow.

Have you ridden the Strom any distance to move around and see if that helps? Some have found that it makes a difference ( if buffeting is present) with a change of helmets.

suzuki taller sheild

For some reason the taller suzuki sheild works like a champ for me at 6 ft tall, it is kind of flimsy and flaps in the breeze a bit at speed, the top bends back a little over 65 mph, but no buffeting that ive noticed in over 5,000 miles on a 06 1000 strom. am I the only person this sheild works for? I will probably try another sheild before i ride this thing to alaska next summer. Later, Brad.

Certainly the only solution is to buy a DL650 with the adjustable shield, then you can change the bracket and put on a proper shield. The DL1000 is a bloated old tank of a bike anyway...

Well, I'm afraid that with the 02' and 03' models we're only going to have a few choices, I'm 6'0 and 31 inch inseam and I've tried the cb 22" and it wasn't the ticket for me... It may be for sale soon. that being said, I just finished up building some adapter brackets to install a 04' shield (Givi) with the madstad brackets. I'm hoping having adjustability and a bigger screen will help. hopefully the weather will break here soon so I can give and evaluation. I'll post some pics when I figure out how to do it!
Your best bet on screen experimentation is to post in the "wanted to buy" sections of the forums and try to get a few different ones to play with.

Keep the shiney side up!

One of the finest shields available for the Strom is from MP. They are really custom made and are available for the early models. http://mpcycledesign.com/

Pat- 2007 DL650A was ridden to all 48 contiguous states. I didn't quite make it to 17,000 miles on the 2012 DL650A.
Nicknames I use to lessen typing, Vee = 2002-2012 DL1000s. Vee2=2014-2016 DL1000s. Wee = 2004-2011 DL650s. Glee = 2012-2016 DL650s
See https://www.stromtrooper.com/general-...nicknames.html

Please vote in the poll on what Strom(s) you have at https://www.stromtrooper.com/informat...-you-have.html
