Heated Grips and Grease

I installed OEM heated grips on my 650 a couple of weeks ago. Now, I'm wondering if I did it correctly.

On the throttle side, do you apply grease to the handlebars before installing the grip? I didn't - I just rubbed the bar with a WD-40 soaked rag to give it a good cleaning. Now I'm having second thoughts.

The (poorly done) instructions say to apply grease, with a little arrow pointing to the left part of the throttle side grip. I assumed they meant just a little dab of grease where the throttle wires connect to the grip.

Should I have greased the handlebar?

I've removed and replaced the stock grips using the compressed air trick. The grips basically float off and on with a litte help from you. No grease or other lube required. If you have access to a compressor give it a try.

No grease on the bar, just a little on the exposed cable. The bar should be clean and dry. If the throttle feels like it's binding on the bar the likely cause is no slack in the cables. The throttle needs a touch of free play.
