MRA windshields from USA--becareful!

Just a note for anyone wanting a MRA shield from Marcel, I ordered one and when I got it it was cut wrong. I called him and told him about this and he said to return it. I told him It was not going to work for me and I didn`t like it and he said no prob, just sent it back. I got my credit card statement and there was no credit on it. I called and talked to his wife and she said she would have him call me. I never got a return call from him so I called him back! His story changed and he told me he would not give me credit saying this was a cut down shield which I`m still not sure whats hes talking about. I got the shield from him and it was not cut straight. I had read a little bad stuff about him, but like all of us DL-1000 owners I was giving it one more try! I will try to resolve this but I just wanted to warn everyone about how my dealing have turned out at this point! I`m very sorry I had any dealings with him! PS. This is The US MRA: MOTORCYCLE REPLACEMENT AIRSHIELDS LLC (www.fairingscreens.com)
Owned/Operated(?) by a guy named Marcel

I've had a similar experience with Gustafsson, who does shields for both the V-Stroms and the Burgmans. Another one to avoid...

My best experiences have been with Cee Bailey (for the V-Strom) and Clearview (for the Burgman). Both make quality products at a reasonable price - and provide decent customer support.

I'm not sure if Clearview does a shield for the Strom. Their website is sorely out of date when it comes to applications. They make 4 windscreens for the AN650, and sell a lot of them - but don't list it on their website.

Just a suggestion...

Since there are two companies called MRA that make windshields for motorcycles, can we be more precise on which MRA company it is? It may be confusing for anyone new here, especially if they have not read the previous threads about windshields.

The German MRA: MRA-Klement GmbH (www.mra.de)

The US MRA: MOTORCYCLE REPLACEMENT AIRSHIELDS LLC (www.fairingscreens.com)
Owned/Operated(?) by a guy named Marcel.

The company that people seem to have problems with is the US MRA. Some people love the shields they got from Marcel, other people have had terrible experiences with the company.

The German MRA makes the Vario-Touring Screen. The people with them who have posted seem to be happy with them.

I just hate to see a good company get a bad reputation from a company with a similar name.

I replaced the stock screen on my K3 with a Cee Bailey screen. I'll probably order a Vario-Touring screen through Twisted Throttle when I feel like trying another screen out.

Good point. I've seen all the posts along the way, and I always kind of thought that Marcel and US MRA was the US distributor for the German firm. It is very confusing to say the least.

I had a great experience with the German MRA vario touring I received from Canadian importer eurocorsa.com

The quality and fit of the shield was like stock, and dang!, the thing looks good to boot. I'll have to get a picture tomorrow. I bet it would really enhance the look of the yellow strom. I have a silver one and I think it looks great on it.
You know when you get at a distance the clear shield kinda disappears?, well the smoke tinted one completes the nice profile. Can you tell I like it? :P

Just to be clear:

MRA Germany is the original MRA and is one of the largest suppliers of high-quality screens in Europe. Their website is www.MRA.de. Their importers are here:
http://www.mra.de/English/IMPORTER.HTM
MRA Germany makes the VarioScreen.

"fairingscreens.com" is a U.S. company that has registered many domains that are intended to confuse customers into thinking that they are the German MRA. One such domain name is mra-germany.com. They even call themselves "Motorcycle Replacement Airshields".

Thanks Eric for posting that

It is confusing enough to figure out what windscreen to buy and for those of you like myself who really don't have excess money to spend on accessories that turn out to be not what you expected it is certainly a great help.

(btw, I don't know Eric although I did talk/consult with him before i ordered a topcase for my 02 Strom from him and I have to say he was not only helpful but also very good to do business with. View this as a shameless plug if you like but i like to give credit where credit is due and he has earned it. )

I had no probs with my order from TwistedThrottle as well and I have heard nothing but positive comments thus far. I only say this because I am usually wary about buying things online from small and relatively unknown companies. I know other people have the same reservations. It's all good folks.
