How do I "warm up" my 2012 V-strom 650?

This is my first bike with fuel injection--how do I properly warm my lovely up before twisting the throttle and riding her hard?

You don't really need to warm it up more than a minute or two. Start it put you helmet and gloves on and go.

Warm up does no good to the engine and isn't needed. You start it and ride away (moderately.) After several minutes oil temp will be up and you can boot it.

2006 DL650: 202,000 km 125,500 miles, Sold
2012 DL650 139,500+ km, 86,700+ miles. Sold
2015 DL1000 New July 2015 193,000+ km, 120,000 miles.

Garage
You can give it a few seconds to get the oil pressure up, then start riding. It's best to keep it under 5000rpm until you see one heat bar and don't red line it until you see two. The Glee will warm up in a hurry due to the coolant/oil heat exchanger. It may surge a little when cold but it warms up fastest under a light load so don't idle it. That just wastes fuel, increases air pollution and lengthens time to warm up.

Pat- 2007 DL650A was ridden to all 48 contiguous states. I didn't quite make it to 17,000 miles on the 2012 DL650A.
Nicknames I use to lessen typing, Vee = 2002-2012 DL1000s. Vee2=2014-2016 DL1000s. Wee = 2004-2011 DL650s. Glee = 2012-2016 DL650s

How does "moderately" translate to RPMs, Tom?

So I'm, "warming up" by operating "moderately" rather than letting idle in the driveway?
