Highway peg mounting option. (cheap)

I recently splashed out and bought a set of highway pegs in preparation for my 23,000km trip. The one's I purchased are designed to fit on standard crash-bars, my problem was that my knees were still bent at an even more uncomfortable angle. After reviewing the many threads on what others have done I realized that the best solution was to mount them on the bash plate.

This was done by purchasing a 300mm length of all thread and two 1/2" threaded elbows and using two u bolts to attach to the bash plate. See below for the results.

My initial plan was to have the elbows pointing upwards but when I tightened the pegs the elbows moved. I will undo the U bolts and rotate the whole thing so it looks "nice". Quick ride and I am very happy with the result, $10 for the brass-ware and $16 for the stainless U Bolts.

hey Big Tone, I know this post is old as the hills, but would you be willing to repost the pictures of your highway peg set up? (if you still have the hardware and the bike, that is! :mrgreen I see from your text you hooked up some threaded rod to threaded elbows, but the threads are typically different breeds, no?

I believe I have the same pegs as you and the same issue where i'd like to mount them lower/differently than the crash guards permit. Currently have a convoluted plan to get an adapter I designed made up on the 3D printer at work that would let me use it on the lowest mounting point of the engine guards, but simpler is always better if there's another way.
