Heaterz elec. grip install question

I got the Oxford Heaterz today. Getting the left one on was a snap. The right side however....

When I pulled the rubber grip off the bar, there's the plastic sleeve left. It has a ring on the outside (far right side) of it that won't let the new grip slide over it.

I didn't see how to remove it - is it what moves the throttle cables? If so, do I just shave off the lip that keeps the grip from sliding on?

I always wanted to be a pirate
but I can't grow a beard and rum makes me giggle.

Remove the ring. It only plastic. Breaking it off with pliers is one way to start. It's only there to keep the grip from working its way off and the glue/rubber cement/hairspray/whatever takes care of that.

Pat- 2007 DL650A was ridden to all 48 contiguous states. I didn't quite make it to 17,000 miles on the 2012 DL650A.
Nicknames I use to lessen typing, Vee = 2002-2012 DL1000s. Vee2=2014-2016 DL1000s. Wee = 2004-2011 DL650s. Glee = 2012-2016 DL650s
